Chiwetel Ejiofor

Chiwetel Ejiofor is a British actor, director, and writer known for stage, film, and television work. Born on July 10, 1977, in London to Nigerian parents, he trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and began appearing in major theatre and screen productions while still a young actor.

Ejiofor's early screen work included a role in Steven Spielberg's Amistad, followed by performances in Dirty Pretty Things, Love Actually, Melinda and Melinda, Kinky Boots, Inside Man, Children of Men, American Gangster, Salt, and 2012. He became known for performances that combined restraint, intensity, and moral complexity across independent film and large studio productions.

His most acclaimed film role came as Solomon Northup in 12 Years a Slave, Steve McQueen's historical drama based on Northup's memoir. Ejiofor's performance received major international recognition, including Academy Award, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations, and the film won the Academy Award for Best Picture.

Ejiofor has also appeared in fantasy and franchise projects, including Doctor Strange, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, The Lion King, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, The Old Guard, The Man Who Fell to Earth, and Venom: The Last Dance.
