Avan Jogia

Avan Tudor Jogia is a Canadian actor, filmmaker, musician, and author whose career began in teen television and expanded into independent film, genre work, directing, and poetry. Born on February 9, 1992, in Vancouver, British Columbia, he first drew attention as a young performer in A Girl Like Me: The Gwen Araujo Story, then built early television credits on series and films including Caprica, Spectacular!, and Rags. His breakthrough came as Beck Oliver on Nickelodeon's Victorious, a role that made him familiar to a broad young audience.

After Victorious, Jogia deliberately moved through a varied mix of projects rather than staying in one lane. He starred in the ABC Family mystery drama Twisted, played the title role in the miniseries Tut, led the paranormal series Ghost Wars, and appeared in the Starz comedy Now Apocalypse. In film, his credits include Ten Thousand Saints, I Am Michael, The Outcasts, The New Romantic, Zombieland: Double Tap, The Exchange, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, Choose Love, and Johnny & Clyde. He has often chosen parts that sit at the edge of youth culture, horror, romance, and offbeat comedy.

Jogia has also developed work behind the camera. He wrote and directed the crime drama Door Mouse, in which he also acted, and earlier directed short-form projects. Beyond film, he published Mixed Feelings, a collection of poetry and prose exploring multiracial identity, and later released Autopsy (of an Ex-Teen Heartthrob). With his brother Ketan, he has made music as part of Saint Ivory.
