Chris Pratt is an American actor and producer known for television comedy, action-adventure films, animated voice work, and major franchise roles. He was born Christopher Michael Pratt on June 21, 1979, in Virginia, Minnesota, and was raised primarily in Lake Stevens, Washington. Before becoming widely known as a screen actor, he worked in a variety of jobs and began acting after being noticed while living in Hawaii.
Pratt's early television career included the role of Bright Abbott on the drama series Everwood, which ran from 2002 to 2006. He later appeared in film and television projects including Wanted, Jennifer's Body, Moneyball, The Five-Year Engagement, Zero Dark Thirty, Delivery Man, and Her. His major comedy breakthrough came with NBC's Parks and Recreation, where he played Andy Dwyer from 2009 to 2015. The role, originally planned as a smaller part, became one of the show's central comic performances and helped establish Pratt's public persona as a loose, energetic comedic actor.
In 2014, Pratt moved into leading film roles with two major successes. He voiced Emmet Brickowski in the animated comedy The Lego Movie and starred as Peter Quill, also known as Star-Lord, in Marvel Studios' Guardians of the Galaxy. The Marvel role made him a central figure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and he reprised it in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Thor: Love and Thunder, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. His performance combined action, comedy, and music-driven nostalgia, helping shape the tone of the Guardians films.

Pratt's status as a Hollywood leading actor grew further with the Jurassic World franchise. He played Owen Grady in Jurassic World, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and Jurassic World Dominion, appearing opposite Bryce Dallas Howard in a continuation of the Jurassic Park series. He also starred in the western remake The Magnificent Seven, the science-fiction romance Passengers, and the military science-fiction action film The Tomorrow War.
Alongside live-action work, Pratt has maintained a significant voice-acting career. In addition to The Lego Movie and its sequel, he voiced Barley Lightfoot in Pixar's Onward, Mario in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and Garfield in The Garfield Movie. These roles extended his association with family-oriented animated franchises and commercially successful studio releases.
In the 2020s, Pratt expanded his work as a producer. He founded the production company Indivisible Productions and starred in the action thriller series The Terminal List, in which he played Navy SEAL James Reece. Across film and television, Pratt's career has moved from supporting comedy and ensemble drama to leading roles in some of the most commercially visible franchises of the 2010s and 2020s.
