Jon Bernthal

His most globally recognizable role is Frank Castle, the Punisher. Bernthal first played Castle in the second season of Netflix and Marvel's Daredevil, where the character was introduced as a grieving vigilante whose war on criminals challenged the show's moral boundaries. The performance led to the Netflix series The Punisher, which gave Bernthal a starring vehicle and allowed him to explore Castle as a traumatized veteran, a violent antihero, and a man unable to separate justice from vengeance. He later returned to the role in the Marvel revival Daredevil: Born Again, confirming how strongly audiences associated his version of the character with the modern screen identity of the Punisher.

Bernthal has also earned major recognition for smaller, emotionally concentrated work. In FX's The Bear, he plays Michael Berzatto, the troubled older brother whose absence and memory shape the family and restaurant at the center of the series.
