Clancy Brown

His voice work is just as important as his on-camera career. Brown has voiced Mr. Krabs on SpongeBob SquarePants since the series began in 1999, making his gravelly comic delivery familiar to generations of children and adults. He has also voiced Lex Luthor across DC animated projects, Long Feng in Avatar: The Last Airbender, Savage Opress in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Surtur in Thor: Ragnarok, and numerous roles in animated superhero and science-fiction series. In video games, he is known for Doctor Neo Cortex and Uka Uka in the Crash Bandicoot franchise and Hank Anderson in Detroit: Become Human.

Brown's career illustrates the flexibility of a distinctive voice and presence. He can be terrifying, absurd, paternal, bureaucratic, or melancholy, and he has moved easily between prestige drama, cult genre cinema, children's animation, and interactive performance. Rather than being defined only as a villain actor, he has become a durable character performer whose voice and face carry immediate recognition across several different audiences.

Part of Brown's longevity comes from the way he uses his voice differently across media.
