Henry Cavill

Henry William Dalgliesh Cavill is a British actor whose career has moved from historical drama and literary adaptations into some of the most visible fantasy, superhero, and action franchises of the 21st century. He was born in Saint Helier, Jersey, on 5 May 1983, and began acting professionally in the early 2000s. His early screen work included The Count of Monte Cristo and I Capture the Castle, roles that introduced him as a young actor in period and adventure material.

Cavill's first major sustained television role came as Charles Brandon in Showtime's The Tudors. The series gave him several seasons of exposure in a prestige historical drama and helped establish him internationally before his move into blockbuster film. He then appeared in projects including Stardust, Blood Creek, Whatever Works, Immortals, and The Cold Light of Day, gradually building a profile as a physically commanding leading man suited to action and mythic material.

His global breakthrough came when Zack Snyder cast him as Clark Kent and Superman in Man of Steel. Cavill's version of Superman emphasized isolation, moral pressure, and the difficulty of being treated as both alien and savior. He reprised the role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League, and later appeared in Black Adam.
