Morena Baccarin

Morena Baccarin is a Brazilian-born American actress whose career has connected cult science fiction, prestige television, superhero film, and network drama. Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1979, she moved to New York City as a child and trained seriously as an actor, eventually attending the Juilliard School. Her mother, Vera Setta, is an actress, and Baccarin's early exposure to performance was followed by formal stage training before she entered film and television in the early 2000s.

Baccarin's early screen work included the films Perfume and Way Off Broadway, but her first lasting television role came as Inara Serra in Joss Whedon's Firefly. Though the series had a short original run, it developed an unusually devoted audience, and Baccarin reprised the role in the film Serenity. She remained closely associated with genre television through Stargate SG-1, where she played Adria, and the ABC revival of V, where she starred as alien leader Anna. Her controlled screen presence, polished diction, and ability to suggest both warmth and threat made her a natural fit for science-fiction and comic-book projects.

Her profile broadened further with Homeland, in which she played Jessica Brody, the wife of a returned prisoner of war whose reintegration drives much of the show's early domestic tension. The role earned Baccarin a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. She later joined Gotham as Dr. Leslie Thompkins, appearing across the Fox series' run, and became familiar to global film audiences as Vanessa Carlysle in Deadpool, Deadpool 2, and Deadpool & Wolverine. She has also appeared in films including Spy, Greenland, Last Looks, Fast Charlie, and Elevation.
