Born in 1997, she began acting as a child and built her career through a steady accumulation of television credits, independent films, and supporting parts before breaking through in 2018. Her early recognition came from roles in Everything Sucks!, The Handmaid's Tale, and Sharp Objects, projects that placed her in sharply different dramatic environments and helped establish her as a performer capable of vulnerability, intensity, and careful character detail.

Sweeney reached a wider audience with HBO's Euphoria, playing Cassie Howard, a teenager whose search for affection and identity becomes one of the show's central emotional threads.
