Acting
Elliot Page is a Canadian actor, producer, author, and advocate whose career has moved between independent Canadian projects, major studio films, television, documentary work, and public activism. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, in 1987, Page began acting as a child and built an unusually visible screen career before adulthood. His early work included the television film and series Pit Pony, the feature Marion Bridge, and a recurring part on Trailer Park Boys, credits that established him in Canadian film and television before his international breakthrough.
Page first drew wide critical notice with Hard Candy, a stark psychological thriller in which his performance carried much of the film's tension. The role was followed by his first appearance as Kitty Pryde in X-Men: The Last Stand, introducing him to a global franchise audience. In 2007, Page became one of the defining young actors of the period with Juno, playing a sharp, guarded teenager navigating an unplanned pregnancy. The film became a commercial and awards success, and Page's performance earned nominations from the Academy Awards, BAFTA, the Golden Globes, and the Screen Actors Guild. That moment positioned him as a performer able to combine dry comic timing with emotional reserve and vulnerability.
After Juno, Page avoided a single predictable lane. He appeared in small dramas such as The Tracey Fragments and Smart People, joined ensemble and genre work including Whip It, Super, and Christopher Nolan's Inception, and returned to the X-Men universe in Days of Future Past. He also took on producing roles, including on Freeheld, and continued to seek projects centered on identity, moral pressure, and outsiders trying to define themselves. In video games he performed as Jodie Holmes in Beyond: Two Souls, expanding his screen acting into performance-capture work.

Television became a major part of Page's later career. He hosted the documentary series Gaycation with Ian Daniel, which explored LGBTQ lives and politics in different countries and earned Emmy recognition. He later starred in Netflix's The Umbrella Academy as Viktor Hargreeves, a role that became especially visible after Page publicly came out as transgender in 2020 and the series incorporated his transition into the character's story. Page's memoir Pageboy, published in 2023, further connected his public career with his account of identity, fame, and the pressures of working in entertainment.
Page's advocacy has been a central part of his public life. He has spoken about LGBTQ rights, discrimination, environmental racism, and trans visibility, while also facing the scrutiny that comes with being one of the best-known trans men in film and television. As an actor, his best work often depends on understatement: characters who are watchful, wounded, funny, skeptical, or trying to survive systems that do not understand them. His career remains notable not only for the major titles attached to it, but for the continuity between his artistic choices and his public insistence on self-definition.
