Alexandra Anna Daddario is an American actress whose career has moved from daytime television and young-adult fantasy films to prestige television, studio action films, independent thrillers, and cable horror drama. Born in New York City on March 16, 1986, she grew up in Manhattan and trained for acting from a young age, including time at the Professional Children's School and Marymount Manhattan College before committing to professional work full time. Her early screen career began on All My Children, where she played Laurie Lewis as a teenager, and continued with guest and recurring television appearances that helped establish her as a working actor before her film breakthrough.
Daddario became widely known in 2010 when she played Annabeth Chase in Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, later returning for Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters. The role placed her in a major fantasy franchise and made her familiar to younger audiences. During the same period she appeared in television series such as White Collar and Parenthood, and in studio comedies and genre pictures including Hall Pass and Texas Chainsaw 3D. Her visibility increased again with San Andreas, in which she played Blake Gaines opposite Dwayne Johnson, and with the 2017 film version of Baywatch, where she played Summer Quinn.
Alongside those larger commercial projects, Daddario built a varied filmography in independent and genre work. Credits such as Burying the Ex, The Choice, We Have Always Lived in the Castle, Can You Keep a Secret?, Lost Girls & Love Hotels, and We Summon the Darkness showed her interest in parts outside a single franchise lane. She has also worked regularly in television, including appearances in True Detective, American Horror Story: Hotel, Why Women Kill, and other series.

A major critical turning point came with the first season of HBO's The White Lotus in 2021. Daddario played Rachel Patton, a newly married journalist whose honeymoon becomes a portrait of class tension, self-doubt, and marital imbalance. The performance brought some of the strongest reviews of her career and led to a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie. The role reframed her screen persona for many viewers, emphasizing quiet frustration and conflicted interiority rather than only the adventure and horror roles for which she had previously been known.
In 2023 Daddario began starring as Dr. Rowan Fielding in Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches, an AMC series based on Rice's Lives of the Mayfair Witches novels and connected to AMC's broader Anne Rice television universe. That leading television role continued her movement toward darker supernatural material and serialized character work. Across more than two decades of acting, Daddario has remained unusually recognizable across several audience groups: Percy Jackson fans, genre-film viewers, Hall Pass and Baywatch comedy audiences, HBO drama viewers, and contemporary horror-fantasy television viewers.
