James Baxter is a British character animator and animation supervisor whose credits span major hand-drawn and computer-animated features. Born in Bristol in 1967, he is listed by TMDb as known for visual effects, with early screen credits including animation work on Who Framed Roger Rabbit and DuckTales: The Movie - Treasure of the Lost Lamp. His Disney-era supervisory credits include Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame, films on which he is credited in animation or animation supervision. He later worked extensively with DreamWorks Animation, with credits on The Prince of Egypt, The Road to El Dorado, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, Shrek 2, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon, How to Train Your Dragon 2, and The Croods. Baxter is also credited as animation supervisor on Enchanted and Curious George, and as animation director on The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water and Kung Fu Panda. Later credits include animation work on Wolfwalkers, Klaus, and Disney's Once Upon a Studio. His filmography reflects a career focused on character performance, supervising animation, and feature animation craft across Disney, DreamWorks, and independent productions.
