Kenjiro Tsuda is a Japanese actor, voice actor, narrator, and director, born June 11, 1971, in Osaka Prefecture. Affiliated with ANDSTIR, he is known for a low, textured voice that can sound severe, weary, comic, or intimate, and for a career that bridges anime, games, stage, live-action drama, narration, and directing. His profile expanded sharply outside Japan in the 2010s and 2020s as streaming anime brought many of his best-known roles to a wider audience.
Tsuda spent part of his childhood in Jakarta and later studied at Meiji University, where he majored in theater studies. He was interested in film direction and performance before becoming widely known as a voice actor. His early anime work included H2 in 1995, and he soon entered franchises that would make his voice familiar to viewers. One of his signature roles is Seto Kaiba in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters, a part that uses Tsuda's controlled intensity and theatrical confidence. He also voiced Sadaharu Inui in The Prince of Tennis, Mikoto Suoh in K, Nicolas Brown in Gangsta, Overhaul in My Hero Academia, Nanami Kento in Jujutsu Kaisen, Tatsu in The Way of the Househusband, and numerous characters in games and animated films.
Tsuda's appeal rests partly on contrast. He is often cast as imposing men, crime-world figures, stern mentors, or cool antagonists, but his performances frequently reveal fatigue, irony, or tenderness beneath the surface. As Tatsu in The Way of the Househusband, his intimidating vocal weight becomes a source of comedy because the character applies yakuza seriousness to domestic chores. As Nanami in Jujutsu Kaisen, restraint and moral exhaustion become key parts of the character's impact. These roles made him a favorite among viewers who respond to vocal performances that do not need high volume to dominate a scene.

His career also includes substantial live-action and directing work. Tsuda debuted as a film director with Documentertainment AD-LIVE in 2019, and he participated in WOWOW's Actor's Short Film project in 2021. He also appeared in Japanese television dramas, including Yell and later projects such as Dearest, Ōoku: The Inner Chambers, and Reversal Orchestra. This live-action presence helped establish him beyond the seiyu field at a time when voice actors were becoming more visible as general entertainers.
In print and media appearances, Tsuda has been noted for unusual popularity among voice actors of his generation. His photo book reached a high chart position in 2023, reflecting a public profile that goes beyond character roles. He has also spoken carefully about his private life, explaining that he did not publicly announce his marriage for many years because he wanted to protect his family.
Tsuda's voice has become increasingly associated with narration and prestige casting. Whether in anime, games, documentaries, or live-action projects, he brings a distinctive grain that makes characters feel lived-in. His career is therefore not just a catalogue of famous roles; it is an example of how a voice actor can move between character performance, screen acting, direction, and celebrity while keeping a recognizable artistic identity.
