Corbin Bernsen is an American actor, director, producer, and writer best known for a long television career and for several durable film roles. Born in Los Angeles in 1954, he grew up in an entertainment family: his mother was Jeanne Cooper, the long-running star of The Young and the Restless, and his father, Harry Bernsen Jr., worked as a producer. Bernsen studied at UCLA, earning undergraduate and graduate degrees connected to theatre and playwriting before moving fully into professional acting.
After early screen appearances and a two-year role on the soap opera Ryan's Hope, Bernsen became widely known as divorce lawyer Arnold Becker on the NBC legal drama L.A. Law. The series was one of the defining ensemble dramas of the late 1980s and early 1990s, and Bernsen's performance made Becker one of its most recognizable characters. The role brought Emmy and Golden Globe nominations and helped establish him as a familiar television leading and supporting actor.
Bernsen also built a film profile during and after L.A. Law. He played Roger Dorn, the image-conscious third baseman in Major League, and returned for sequels in the sports-comedy franchise. He starred as Dr. Alan Feinstone in the horror film The Dentist and its sequel, adding a cult genre credit to a career otherwise strongly associated with television. Other film and television appearances included Star Trek: The Next Generation, Seinfeld, The Larry Sanders Show, JAG, The West Wing, Boston Legal, General Hospital, Cuts, and The Resident.

A later generation of viewers came to know Bernsen as Henry Spencer, the exacting retired police detective and father of Shawn Spencer, on USA Network's Psych. The role used his dry authority and comic irritation, giving him a long-running part in a series with a devoted fan base. He returned to the character in later Psych films.
Bernsen has also worked behind the camera, directing, producing, and writing projects including Dead Air, Rust, 25 Hill, 3 Day Test, and Life with Dog. Some of his later independent work has explored faith, family, and community themes. He has written fiction and, with his wife Amanda Pays, books about home renovation and design. Outside acting, he is known for a large snow-globe collection, which became part of the public story around the "One Red Paperclip" trade. Across decades, Bernsen's career has combined network television fame, cult film roles, independent filmmaking, and steady character work.
