Alexander Andreevich Petrov is a Russian actor whose career has included theatre, television, mainstream Russian cinema, and several internationally distributed films. He was born on January 25, 1989, in Pereslavl-Zalessky, in Yaroslavl Oblast. Public biographies describe a childhood interest in football that ended after a serious injury, after which he moved toward performance. He first studied economics locally but became involved in student theatre and KVN-style performance, then entered the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts, commonly known as GITIS, in Moscow.
Petrov's stage work developed alongside his screen career. He served at Moscow's Et Cetera Theatre and later joined the Yermolova Theatre, where he played roles including Hamlet. This theatre background is important to his screen image: his film and television performances often lean on heightened emotion, rapid shifts in intensity, and romantic or rebellious energy. His early television work included the series Voices and While the Fern Is Blooming, and he became more widely visible through mid-2010s Russian television such as The Method and Fartsa.
His film career accelerated in the late 2010s. In Fyodor Bondarchuk's science-fiction film Attraction, Petrov played Artyom, a role he later reprised in the sequel Invasion. He portrayed Nikolai Gogol in the Gogol film cycle, including Gogol. The Beginning, Gogol. Viy, and Gogol. Terrible Revenge, which mixed detective fiction, horror, and historical fantasy. He also starred in Ice, a romantic sports drama that became a major Russian popular hit, and in the war action film T-34, one of the most commercially visible Russian films of its period.

Petrov's international credits include Luc Besson's Anna, where he played Piotr, and Man of God, a Greek religious drama. His Russian filmography also includes Text, Hero, Streltsov, The Palace, Ice 2, Ice 3, Naughty, and Kraken. Film databases show him repeatedly cast as romantic leads, soldiers, athletes, rebels, and flawed young men whose stories are shaped by ambition or trauma. Russian entertainment coverage and database summaries have described him as one of the country's most popular actors of the late 2010s.
Because English-language coverage of Petrov is more limited than coverage of many Hollywood performers, his biography is best supported by a combination of encyclopedic sources, Russian broadcaster or database profiles, festival material, and film databases. Those sources consistently identify him as a GITIS-trained actor from Pereslavl-Zalessky whose screen breakthrough came through major Russian television and films such as Attraction, Gogol. The Beginning, Ice, and T-34. By the mid-2020s he remained active in Russian film and television, with credits continuing into new genre films and series.
