Jason Sudeikis

Jason Sudeikis is an American actor, comedian, writer and producer best known for his work on Saturday Night Live and for co-creating and starring in the Apple TV+ comedy series Ted Lasso. Born Daniel Jason Sudeikis in Fairfax, Virginia, and raised mainly in Overland Park, Kansas, he began performing improvisational comedy in the Kansas City and Chicago comedy scenes before joining professional ensembles associated with ComedySportz, iO Chicago, Boom Chicago and The Second City.

Sudeikis joined Saturday Night Live as a writer in 2003 and later became an on-camera cast member, remaining a central performer through 2013. On the show he was known for recurring characters and impressions, including political figures and sharply drawn comic types, and his years at SNL established him as a versatile sketch performer. After leaving the regular cast, he continued to return for guest appearances and later hosted the program.

His film career developed alongside and after SNL. Sudeikis played leading or major comic roles in Hall Pass, Horrible Bosses, Horrible Bosses 2 and We're the Millers, and appeared in independent or genre-crossing films including Drinking Buddies, Sleeping with Other People, Colossal, Booksmart, Driven and South of Heaven. He has also worked extensively as a voice actor, notably as Red in The Angry Birds Movie and The Angry Birds Movie 2, with later voice credits including Hitpig! and another Angry Birds sequel.

Sudeikis' most acclaimed work has been Ted Lasso, which grew out of a character originally created for NBC Sports promotions. As the optimistic American football coach hired to manage an English soccer club, he served as co-creator, executive producer and star. The series brought him major awards attention, including Golden Globe and Primetime Emmy wins, and shifted his profile from sketch and film comedy toward character-based television storytelling.
