Priyanka Chopra Jonas is an Indian actress, producer, and public figure whose career spans Hindi cinema, international television, and English-language film. Born in Jamshedpur, India, to Ashok and Madhu Chopra, physicians in the Indian Army, she moved often during childhood because of her parents' postings and later studied for a period in the United States. Her entry into public life came through pageantry: after winning Miss World 2000, she began receiving film offers and moved into acting.
Chopra made her screen debut in the Tamil film Thamizhan in 2002 and entered Hindi cinema with The Hero: Love Story of a Spy in 2003. The same year, Andaaz became an early commercial success and brought her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. She followed with Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and then had a major breakthrough in Aitraaz, playing an antagonist in a role that drew attention to her willingness to take on less conventional parts. In the mid-2000s she consolidated her position with starring roles in Krrish and Don, two popular 2006 films that led to further franchise appearances in Krrish 3 and Don 2.
Her performance as a troubled model in Fashion marked a major critical milestone and won her the National Film Award for Best Actress and a Filmfare Award. She followed it with a series of varied roles in films such as Kaminey, 7 Khoon Maaf, Barfi!, Mary Kom, Dil Dhadakne Do, and Bajirao Mastani. These projects helped define her as one of the most prominent Hindi film actors of her generation, balancing commercial productions with character-driven roles, period drama, and biographical material. Barfi! and Mary Kom in particular broadened her reputation beyond glamour roles, while Bajirao Mastani placed her in one of the major Hindi historical dramas of the 2010s.

From 2015 to 2018, Chopra starred as Alex Parrish in the American thriller series Quantico, becoming widely noted as the first South Asian performer to headline an American network drama series. The role made her a regular presence in U.S. television and supported a broader transition into international projects. She subsequently appeared in Hollywood films including Baywatch, Isn't It Romantic, The White Tiger, and The Matrix Resurrections, and starred in the Prime Video action series Citadel. Her later Indian and international credits include The Sky Is Pink, Love Again, Heads of State, and voice narration work on the Disney nature documentary Tiger.
Chopra founded the production company Purple Pebble Pictures in 2015, supporting regional Indian films including Ventilator and Paani, both of which won National Film Awards. She has also released music, published the memoir Unfinished, and maintained a presence in fashion, business, and public advocacy. She has worked with UNICEF since 2006 and has served as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for child rights. Among her recognitions are two National Film Awards, five Filmfare Awards, the Padma Shri from the Government of India, and inclusion on Time, Forbes, and BBC lists recognizing global influence. Her public profile also includes her marriage to American singer and actor Nick Jonas, though her professional reputation rests chiefly on her work across Indian and international screen industries.
