His Disney and foreign-film dubbing work is equally important. In Japanese releases he has served as an official voice for characters such as Donald Duck, Genie, and Sebastian, and has dubbed major actors including Will Smith, Eddie Murphy, Jim Carrey, Robin Williams, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and others. This dubbing career made him familiar even to audiences who may not follow anime credits closely, because his voice reaches them through imported Hollywood films and family entertainment.

Yamadera's public presence broadened through television. In 1997 he became a host on TV Tokyo's children's variety program Oha Suta and remained associated with it for nearly two decades before stepping down in 2016. That role helped make him a household figure as well as an industry specialist. He has also performed music, formed the acting unit Banana Fritters with Toshihiko Seki and Noriko Hidaka, and appeared in live-action and narration contexts.

His reputation inside the voice-acting world is unusually high. Japanese polls of voice actors have ranked him first among performers whom peers considered especially impressive, and he has been described with phrases such as the man with the seven-colored voice. The phrase fits because his career is not defined by one type: he can play a cool lead, a frantic mascot, a Disney comic character, a dramatic adult, a narrator, or several characters in the same production.

Yamadera's longevity comes from technique, adaptability, and a willingness to move between popular entertainment forms. Whether as Spike Spiegel, Donald Duck, Beerus, Zenigata, or a foreign-film dub voice, he has shaped how Japanese audiences hear animation and imported cinema. Few performers have connected so many different viewing publics while remaining so clearly identifiable.
