Robert Thom was an American screenwriter born July 2, 1929, in Brooklyn, New York. Public filmographies identify him primarily with writing credits in 1960s and 1970s genre cinema. He wrote or co-wrote projects including Wild in the Streets, Bloody Mama, Death Race 2000, Crazy Mama, The Witch Who Came from the Sea, Angel, Angel, Down We Go, Song of the Succubus, and The Phantom of Hollywood. He is also credited as director on Angel, Angel, Down We Go. Later Death Race films, including Death Race, Death Race 2, and Death Race: Inferno, credit Thom through original material, characters, or the earlier film's screenplay lineage. His FilmPeopleRatings entry is therefore centered on writing, especially the satirical action premise that originated with Death Race 2000.
