Ayumu Murase

Murase's credits expanded quickly after Haikyu!!. He voiced characters in works including The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh, Devilman Crybaby, Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun, Ranking of Kings, Drifting Home, The Empire of Corpses, Goodbye, Don Glees!, Ragna Crimson, and many other anime and game projects. In Ranking of Kings, his work as Kage paired vulnerability with loyalty and comic warmth, while other roles have used darker, stranger, or more fantastical tones. His ability to play young boys without making them generic has been one of his professional strengths.

In 2016 Murase won the Best Male Rookie award at the Seiyu Awards, a significant industry recognition for new voice actors in Japan. The award reflected not only the popularity of Haikyu!! but the speed with which he had become a recurring presence in high-profile anime. He later left VIMS and established his own agency, Aster Nine, in 2023, a move that signaled a more independent stage of his career.

Murase's film and television credits in databases can look fragmented because voice actors often return to the same role across series, films, specials, games, drama CDs, and live events. His importance is therefore best understood through franchises rather than single titles. Haikyu!! remains his signature work, but his broader résumé shows steady demand for characters who are energetic, emotionally open, youthful, uncanny, or vocally distinctive. In a field where voice identity is crucial, Murase has built a recognizable sound while avoiding being limited to one type of role.
