David J. Schwartz in Café Society (Sound)

I kept coming back to David J. Schwartz's choices here, especially in the smaller beats. There is some texture here, but I wanted a little more surprise. The performance has a clear idea behind it, but the execution is not equally strong throughout. I appreciated the intention more than every individual moment. It supports the film well enough, though it rarely changes the temperature of a scene. My reaction is mainly about this specific film, not a judgement on the performer overall.
