A useful but uneven turn from Joe Swanberg

Looking just at Joe Swanberg's work as Sam (segment "Second Honeymoon"), I land on 5.5/10. I appreciated the intention more than every individual moment. There is some texture here, but I wanted a little more surprise. The performance has a clear idea behind it, but the execution is not equally strong throughout. A few scenes feel specific and grounded, while others fall back on familiar choices. That is why the score sits where it does for me.
