Alef Cavalcante has good moments, though not fully even
4.5/10 · Directing
What stood out to me about Selva (2024) was how Alef Cavalcante handled the role. There is some texture here, but I wanted a little more surprise. It supports the film well enough, though it rarely changes the temperature of a scene. A few scenes feel specific and grounded, while others fall back on familiar choices. I appreciated the intention more than every individual moment. The performance has a clear idea behind it, but the execution is not equally strong throughout. Different viewers may value it more, but for me the effect was limited.
