Daichi Watanabe never quite convinces

Daichi Watanabe's contribution as Actor gives Mare (2015) a more specific texture. I wanted more specificity, especially in the emotional transitions. It is not a careless performance, but it feels under-shaped. The performance is functional, but it does not leave much after the scene ends. Several choices feel too broad for what the scene seems to require. The work never fully settles into the rhythm of the movie. Different viewers may value it more, but for me the effect was limited.
