Good instincts from Guo Tao, mixed result

I came away thinking about Guo Tao's work as Zhao Datou more than I expected. I like the idea of the performance more than the full result. The quieter stuff works better than the bigger beats. It is solid enough, but there are moments where it feels a bit on autopilot. I would not call it bad, just not as sharp as it could have been. Some scenes click, some just sit there. That is the part I kept thinking about after the movie ended.
