Mike Scannell never quite convinces

What stood out to me about The Dark and the Wicked (2020) was how Mike Scannell handled the role. It is not a careless performance, but it feels under-shaped. I wanted more specificity, especially in the emotional transitions. The performance is functional, but it does not leave much after the scene ends. The work never fully settles into the rhythm of the movie. My reaction is mainly about this specific film, not a judgement on the performer overall.
