Benjamin Voisin never quite convinces
3.5/10 · Acting
What stood out to me about Simon's Got a Gift (2020) was how Benjamin Voisin handled the role. I wanted more specificity, especially in the emotional transitions. Several choices feel too broad for what the scene seems to require. It is not a careless performance, but it feels under-shaped. The performance is functional, but it does not leave much after the scene ends. The work never fully settles into the rhythm of the movie. That overall aftertaste is what stayed with me after the credits.
