Aya Yamamoto never quite convinces

What stood out to me about Scarlet (2025) was how Aya Yamamoto handled the role. It is not a careless performance, but it feels under-shaped. The performance is functional, but it does not leave much after the scene ends. I wanted more specificity, especially in the emotional transitions. The work never fully settles into the rhythm of the movie. Several choices feel too broad for what the scene seems to require. Different viewers may value it more, but for me the effect was limited.
