Toby Oliver has good moments, though not fully even

Toby Oliver's contribution as Director of Photography gives The Darkness (2016) a more specific texture. The performance is functional, but it does not leave much after the scene ends. The work never fully settles into the rhythm of the movie. It is not a careless performance, but it feels under-shaped. Several choices feel too broad for what the scene seems to require.
