Chan Ye-cheng never quite convinces

What stood out to me about One for the Road (2022) was how Chan Ye-cheng handled the role. It is not a careless performance, but it feels under-shaped. The performance is functional, but it does not leave much after the scene ends. The work never fully settles into the rhythm of the movie. Several choices feel too broad for what the scene seems to require. I wanted more specificity, especially in the emotional transitions. My reaction is mainly about this specific film, not a judgement on the performer overall.
