Canti Lau Sek-Ming has good moments, though not fully even
7/10 · Acting
What stood out to me about New Biography of Xishi (2024) was how Canti Lau Sek-Ming handled the role. The choices are controlled without feeling mechanical, which makes the character easy to trust. Even in crowded scenes, the performance keeps a clean line through the story. There is enough texture in the quieter beats to make the role feel lived in. What works best is the balance between restraint and clear emotional intention. That overall aftertaste is what stayed with me after the credits.
