Dakota Blue Richards works in parts

What stood out to me about The Golden Compass (2007) was how Dakota Blue Richards handled the role. I wanted more specificity, especially in the emotional transitions. It is not a careless performance, but it feels under-shaped. The performance is functional, but it does not leave much after the scene ends. Several choices feel too broad for what the scene seems to require. That overall aftertaste is what stayed with me after the credits.
