Biography
Hiroshi Kamiya is a Japanese voice actor, singer, and narrator, born January 28, 1975, in Matsudo, Chiba. He is affiliated with Aoni Production and has become one of the defining male voices of modern anime, especially through roles that combine verbal precision, dry comedy, sensitivity, and sharp emotional turns. His screen and audio work covers television animation, theatrical anime, games, radio, character music, and narration.
Kamiya began voice work in the 1990s and gradually became associated with both leading and distinctive supporting roles. Early credits across anime and games built his reputation, but the 2000s and 2010s made him a central name for international anime viewers. He played Koyomi Araragi in the Monogatari series, Takashi Natsume in Natsume's Book of Friends, Nozomu Itoshiki in Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei, Izaya Orihara in Durarara!!, Yato in Noragami, Levi Ackerman in Attack on Titan, Trafalgar Law in One Piece, Tieria Erde in Mobile Suit Gundam 00, Kiyoshi Fujino in Prison School, and Saiki Kusuo in The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. Those parts show his range: introspective leads, sardonic tricksters, understated heroes, and comic characters whose timing depends on speed and control.
His work as Takashi Natsume is especially tied to gentler drama. Natsume's Book of Friends depends on quiet empathy and restraint, and Kamiya's performance helped give the series its calm emotional center. By contrast, his roles as Izaya in Durarara!! and Levi in Attack on Titan made use of a cooler, more cutting edge. In the Monogatari franchise, his delivery as Araragi required fast dialogue, self-deprecation, and shifts between absurd comedy and vulnerability. This flexibility is a major reason he has remained in demand across long-running franchises.
